Talking Thailand

We’re back with Wanderlust like never before! Patrick and I have been spending a great deal of time talking international travel and flirting with online photos of South America, Europe, Asia and more. Our inspiration for choosing Thailand though, was my little brother.

Ian has spent the past year teaching English in a South Korean Hogwon – living and adapting to life in the port city of Busan. His contract was through in August of this year, and since he has been traveling the world like a boss! We knew that we wanted to meet up with him at some point in his travels, and decided on Thailand for the sole reason that it provided us with both adventure and relaxation. Elephant trekking by day, beach bumming with cocktails by night. #Livingthedream.

Unlike our ‘Round the World trip though, our planning process has been much more laid back and spontaneous. In fact, we’re still booking flights and confirming train reservations and we leave in about ONE WEEK! To be completely honest, our lives in New York City have been busy and we haven’t had the time to think through many excursions or restaurant reservations, but in a way, that’s making this adventure a bit more fun. We shall do what many travelers before us have done… figure it out.

Though our plans are still tentative, we have ironed out the three cities that we plan to explore – Bangkok (2 days), Chiang Mai (3 days) and Ko Lanta (5 days). Because we have to venture all the way to Asia, we lose a few days in travel time which means our 12 days getaway has been reduced to 10. No worries though, it’s still plenty of time to absorb ourselves in the culture and unwind with the natives.

We look forward to sharing our experiences with you and hope you’ll blog with us along the way! Questions, comments, thoughts or recommendations… share them all.
